昭和３０年代以降、法務省参与の井上忠男（元陸軍大佐）は、戦後の戦争犯罪裁判を徹底的に調べ、多数の報告書を同省に提出した。
From the 1950s, Tadao Inoue, a onetime colonel in the Imperial Japanese Army, served as special adviser to the Japanese Ministry of Justice. His task was to investigate and collect materials regarding the war crimes trials of Japanese soldiers held during the postwar era.

Materials Regarding Air Raids and Military Discipline is a collection of materials regarding the treatment of American airmen captured by the Japanese during WWII. It includes contemporary scholarly opinions on international law, copies of Foreign Ministry documents, military codes, a postwar examination of the war crimes trial regarding the punishment of American airmen captured in Shanghai in 1942, and a petition to the head of the “National Offenders Rehabilitation Commission” from ex-military personnel imprisoned in Sugamo on charges related to the treatment of American aircrews during the war (dated 1952).
The original document is now part of the collection of the Yasukuni Kaiko Bunko.
